    To the ones who know….

    I have 2 questions…

    Question #1:

I now have FCP 6.03 and before this I had no problems w/ QTconversion so that i can Toast my finish product and print to a DVD.

Now, if I do the same process, the end result is that my audio is not synced w/ picture. Why?

My format that I print my DVD to are:

    Export to ‘usung QT conversion…’
(my format is QT movie, & use: ‘Default settings)
    then to “options)
    a. compression: H.246
    b. Quality: High
    c. Key frame rate: 24
    d. encoding mode: multi-pass
    e. Dimensions: NTSC 720×480 4:3

    Sound settings:
    a. Format: Interger
    b. Sample rate: 48.000 khz
    c. sample size: 16-bit
    d. Channels: stereo (lr)

I dont recall doing anything different from the past, but the result is that my audio falls behind.

    why??

    Question #2…

If I do a QT movie then, i end up seeing the black ‘blinks’ in my edit when I play my video, but no problem w/ audio…

    My settings are:
    a. Settings: DV NTSC 48 KHZ
    b. Include: A&V
    c. Markers: none
    d. I check the 2 boxes for
    – recompress all frames
    – make movie self-contained

why would have ‘blinking’ problems when I view my product on atoasted DVD?

    thanks…

What version of Quicktime do you have?

Let me ask… Why are you using Toast to make DVDs? DVD Studio Pro is the best and you already have it. And Compressor would be the best place to compress your programs any way you need them.

As for the black blinks… it sounds like you aren’t rendering your timelines before exporting them.

Let me get this strate you compress your video to a H264 file and then let Toast compress that file again.

That is adding a compression on top of a compression.

Why not stick with a simple one compression approach. Export a quicktime using current setting (no compression here) then pull that file into compressor and use the DVD preset (that will be your only time compressing) Then pull your DVD ready files into DVD SP.

Now for you issue.[harris tobing] “the end result is that my audio is not synced w/ picture. Why?”

Is the audio synced in the H264 quicktime you exported. If it is it may be an issue with Toast.

There are no “technical solutions” to your “artistic problems”.
Don’t let technology get in the way of your creativity!

Your workflow makes no much sense.
First because QT Conversion is a last resource way to go. Avoid it as much as possible.
Export a QT REf or Self-contained movie from FC and send it to Toast (Compressor better).
And when exporting NEVER check Recompress all frames.
