  Problems viewing XDCam HD proxies

  I’m unable to view the proxies in the Log & Transfer window since upgrading the Sony application. We upgraded from version 1.0 of Sony’s XHCam import application to version 2.5.1 when doing a demo with Sony’s EX-1 camera.
  Now rather than viewing the video in the L&T window I’m getting the prompt: “Quicktime and a decompressor are needed to see the picture” I’m assuming that I don’t have the proper codec for Quicktime to view the clips. I believe that the proxies may be mpeg 4 format but I’m not sure of that.
  I’m still running FCP version 5.4.1 and Quicktime version 7.2 under OS 10.4.10 on this machine (don’t ask…). I’ve tried to delete the newer version of the Sony application and drop back down to version 1.0 but I can’t seem to get rid of all of the pieces of 2.4.1. I get a “wrong Database” error when attempting to open 1.0 after deleting the newer version. Is it a matter of loading the correct codec into the Quicktime Library or is there more to this problem?

  I can still import the full clips without any problems. I just can’t view them to log them before import.

  Any suggestions?

  did you try deleting the old database ie not the old app
  by default i believe it will be in your users ~/Library/Application Support/Sony XDCAM Transfer folder
  try deleting(or just moving) that whole directory and then see how you go

  Thanks Andy. I’ll give that a try. It was just a matter of not knowing just where the file was on the drives.
  I’m in a session today, but I’ll check it out after hours.
