FCP and my Panasonic 24p
Hello all,
I’ve been trying to digitize my shots from my Panasonic DVX100 (the first edition) to the FCP Studio 2 at work. They have one of the towers, I believe its the newer Mac Pro 8 system.
So I plug my firewire cable into the front of the tower, start up FCP and it recognizes it. I can see picture and everything. But when I go to digitize, I set an “in” point and fast forward to the “out” point, and select “clip” but the computer doesn’t rewind back to the “in” point. I recorded in Free Run timecode on the camera, but to help it out I rewind it back a little just to get it in the right time. But it always rewinds the camera back to a minute before the “in” point.
I have the deck selected as “firewire port, but I don’t know what it is. I’m new to FCP, so maybe their is a step or something I’m missing. Could anyone help me out?
Also, do I have to set an out point everytime I just want to digitize, or can FCP just run using the timecode until a timecode break or something? Everytime I set an “in” point, it marks the same timecode as an “out” point.
