different file formats on timeline
I am doing a demo reel for someone and he has different formats from different clips from different movies. One is 640 x 480 another is 920x 720 another is 1280×720. Does anyone know the best way to import these mixed files on to a timeline with out distorting the images?
also is there a way to change the aspect ratio to a few clips and not all in a timeline to make it consistent to the entire timeline.

First, decide on the output format and set your sequence to those specs.
You can import anything into FCP’s bins and drop anything onto this timeline and FCP will attempt to auto-scale whatever it is to fit the timeline. You will need to go back to each clip individually and change scale or distortion to arrive at the image you need or want. You will need to pillar- or letter-box some clips to fit your output size. Changing frame rates can get you into lots of trouble.
Here’s what I’d do: Ask your client to provide you with all of his clips converted to a single format by him.
