URGENT: Print to tape audio
Help. I have a sequence in FCP that says its audio outputs are 1&2. I am printing to tape using my Sony HDR-HC1. I have found out (the hard way) that the sound on the tape is only channel 1. Sony tech help said that using the iLink, whatever the output is from the computer the Sony will record. I am stumped.
The quicktime version of the file says it’s in stereo.
Is there something I should be doing to ensure that the audio going to the camera is in both channels?

First, please explain why your request is urgent?
Next, since this is so very urgent, now you too can become an audio engineer in just two seconds. Put a minute of bars and tone on a new timeline and try to print that to tape. Do you get audio on both channels? If not, you’d best begin checking for a bad cable, a bad connector, or a malfunctionng camera.

You might also want to check your panning, to make sure you haven’t panned all to channel 1. You should notice this while monitoring, but perhaps you are monitoring mono.

That was gonna be the next step Steven, but pumping tone through from a new sequence gives us a solid reference that we know is panned correctly. If that doesn’t work, no amount of panning will solve his issue.
