4:3 sequence and 16:9 footage – trouble!
I thought this would be an easy problem to solve but after having searched for hours I cannot find a solution to my problem…. here goes…
Having shot a football match in 16:9 (for the first time) all on XL2’s with 5 camera angles, I have almost finished the edit and have only just realized I forgot to change my sequence settings that are set to 4:3. FCP has recognized the captured files as anamorphic and i hoped that when exporting to compressor i would lose the letterbox. I have trialled this and it doesn’t display as 16:9, but as 4:3 with the letterbox. I have also tried opening a new project with a 16:9 sequence and pasting the edit from the 4:3 sequence into the new 16:9 sequence – this doesn’t make any difference. However, when i drag the clips individually from the browser into the new 16:9 sequence they display as true 16:9, no letterbox….
I am outputting to DVD and require a 16:9 finished product.
Does anyone have any suggestions so that my final dvd will display correctly on widescreen televisons, and only appear letterboxed on 4:3 televsions?
Any suggestions are hugely appreciated as my deadline is looming!
