    Im confused..

I have started using the EX1 – and have problems chosing settings for slomo that works best later in the FCp edit.

I opted to shoot 720P 60p – thinking that that would give me an excellent slomo.

But then other guys on the cow argues that shooting 720 25p , but overcrank it in camera to 60fps works better….

    Maybe so?

But the way I shoot i often opt for using just a small bit of a clip to slomo…. in a timeramp fashion for instance….

    My question is really:

What footage would you FCP editors prefer from the cam if slomo / fastmotion etc – was not yet decided but would be decided AFTER revieving the footage??

Shooting 60p and conforming to 24p in post should yield the same results as shooting 24p and having the EX1 record it overcranked. It’s just a matter of where the conforming takes place. If you set it in camera, you don’t have to do anything in post. Either way, the exact same number of frames are being recorded.

As Joseph says in the two cases the result will be the same. You are not creating (interpolating) new pictures. Just playing the original clip at a different speed.
The advantage of doing that in the camera is that you download your slowmo-ready clip.
The disadvantage is that this clip will be slowmo “forever”. If you want it to play at normal speed, you will need to speed it up.
But you are PAL lander. You should choose between 720p50 and 720p25/50-60.
If you shoot p50, your clips would be played OK in normal speed and when slowing down you can get a perfect slowmo (no interpolation) just by conforming.
Shooting i60 or p60 will make you always change the standard.
I’ve been shooting 720p25/60 and the slowmo in camera is incredible.
