  • Conform issues finishing 5.1.4 project in 6.0.3

    Hello everyone,
This is a dusie. I am onlining a series of episodes with DV settings that have been offlined in FCP 5.1.4. The finishing system runs FCP 6.0.3. For online delivery, the client media manages the final sequence creating a new project and consolidated media on a firewire drive which I then receive for finishing.
My first issue is that when I open the project file and it updates to 6.0.3, the new sequence contains incorrectly interpreted speed shots. What I mean is that any clips in the sequence which have their speed set to anything other than 100, -100, 50 or -50 are wrong; the clip starts at the wrong point in the media and the speed setting is drastically off. The result is unacceptable.
Secondly, I have found that if I import an XML created from the media managed offline sequence, ALL speed shots come across CORRECTLY.
BUT, when color correcting a sequence which originated from XML I get crashes during specific operations, namely when pressing the ‘copy filter to following clip’ button in the ‘3 way color corrector’ tab.
I’ve tried all sorts of methods of importing, exporting, copying, and duplicating to no avail. Please let me know if anyone else experiences these issues and maybe if a workaround has been found.
    Thank you!

It should be the opposite. Opening your 5.1 in 6.03 should have all the proper speed changes. The XML should be unable to translate the speed changes:

Try open the XML, then “SAVE AS..” before you start to apply the CC filter.

..and always a big mess on top of the table.

i had exactly the same speed issues with a 5.14 project i tried to migrate to 6.01.
my solution was to just stay in 5.14 for that project.
    not much help, sorry.

but have you trashed your preferences?
that can help when things get weird & buggy.
