Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy 6.0.3 and HDV

Something weird is going on. Ever since I installed 6.0.3, capturing HDV through FireWire is impossible. Pressing play on the deck while in Log and Capture mode shows that frames are being dropped left and right. Even attempting to either log then capture or to go nuts with the capture now option is futile – it breaks up perfectly good clips (clean, no in-camera cuts). I even performed a test where I recaptured some footage that was previously captured perfectly with no problems, only to find out that this once easily capturable footage was now impossible to get into the system.

I highly doubt that it’s a system issue as this problem is reproduced when trying the same thing on my MacBook Pro. It’s not a project specific issue as I’ve even tried capturing in a new empty project. It’s not a cable or deck issue as I’ve tried using both the Sony HVR-1500, as well as the HVR-M25U, swapping out cables on every attempt.

My current workaround is to capture the stuff using my old G4 running 5.1.4. It works, so I’m not too worried. This also proves that it isn’t a drive issue.

I’m just curious to know if anyone else is having this problem or if someone would mind doing a test of their own to see if they can reproduce this madness that I’m experiencing.

    Cheers!

    Hmmm,

My MBP and G5 are both running 6.0.3 and capturing fine. You may have to trash prefs or re-install.

    Have a wonderful day.

Hmmmmm… odd indeed. Prefs have been trashed (on both systems). Here’s my prediction: I’ll reinstall on both systems and it will fix nothing because I’m a bad luck God.
