Output for braodcast
Hey everyone,
i was just wondering what the standards are for broadcast productions when it comes to end output. I mean there are so many ways to output/codecs/sizes for your project from let’s say Final Cut. What are the industry standards when it comes to this? Putting it back to tape, how does that work? Is there some site where this information is stored? I just want to learn a bit more about the professional way to deliver your product to the customer.
I hope you guys can help me out a bit.

Ask the broadcast station or network what are the specs on the dub they want.

I’d suggest you read the manual on “Edit to Tape” window… and also read the “HD and Broadcast format” doc both found in the Help menu in FCP… no need for no stinking web!
Most Broadcasters these days either want HDCAM as a finish for HD, and still take Betacam SP for SD delivery. Some require Digital Betacam for SD, but most don’t…
Your question could take 100 pages of text to reply to completely, so since the information is readily available to you in FCP’s Help menu, I’d suggest you start by reading the manual on the subject.
