May 13, 2008 at 12:09 amAre you using a used tape, or a tape that has the record inhibit button moved to the inhibit position?

Thanks for the try.
Anyone?! I have tried two tapes, one wit the red a / b tapes popped up and the other down. are these the rec. inhibit tabs? is there something in the decks menu that releases’s the tapes or does it by software? -

May 13, 2008 at 1:23 amAnother guess here, but I know on other Panasonic decks you can enable Rec inhibit form within the menus. Crack open that manual and find out which one it is.

May 13, 2008 at 5:02 amthe record (A+B) tabs must be down. Also the “C” tab (in the center by the window) is up for 4 track audio and down for 8 track.
You must go to the “HOME” menu and set F13 to recording enabled.

correct- also check the tape, some b-stock tapes will not work in the D5 it is pretty fussy when it comes to tape stock IMHO.

May 14, 2008 at 3:10 pmThanks all. that solves some of the issues. Also, the client had got a bad deck from the rental house (kept shutting off, even while playing a tape) this was the main issue (the bad deck from rental house) Client also had a bad Kona card, AJA was very helpful.
