capture hdv as ProRes 422 std?
Is there any image quality advantage to capturing in ProRes 422 vs. hdv when I plan to edit/render in ProRes. Final delivery will be on STD DVD.
If so, can someone clarify how to do the capture now? I see that I cannot just use ESC to end the capture because it just aborts it.
I read the COW tutorial by Chris Poisson where he said to turn “off” the camera when you want to stop the capture. Seems like I should instead push stop, and not actually turn off the camera. If I turned it off while things are still processing I think I would get problems with improperly dismounting a device, right?
If there’s no image quality benefit, I guess I’d capture hdv and the make it ProRes after capture using one of the methods I’ve read about.
For that, I’m still not sure if it would be necessary to actually export as ProRes and re-import, or is it the same if I just make a new sequence and drop or the hdv clips . . . or is it the same if I simply set render to ProRes?
Oh yeah, another question: should I set render to “render all YUV material in hi high-precision YUV vs “render in 8 bit YUV?
Sorry, there were no replies found.
