Upconverting dimensions vial Kona 3
I have a project I’m working on that consists of new HD footage and some recycled SD footage from a previous edit. The older footage was shot 4×3 on Digibeta. I’m upconverting this footage through a Kona 3 to pillerboxed 1920×1080. Since it started on Digibeta it actually upconverts pretty well. The issue is that the SD footage seems to be getting stretched a bit vertically and also cropped on the top and the bottom. I’m loosing some of the active video from the upconversion process and I’m not sure just why the Kona is doing this. I would guess that it should upconvert the footage matching the rasters of the SD/HD footage from top to bottom and then pillerboxing the sides but it also seems to be expanding/stretching the SD footage vertically. Any way to get this to not stretch the footage and not loose some of the top and bottom of the legacy footage?
I’m posting this in the FCP forum since it is more of an operational problem rather than a Kona problem.
Thanks in advance.
