Jittery 1080i footage in 720p timeline
Hi,
I’ve got a FCP project with several different footage sources (720p, 1080i, HD, HDV, DV, 24fps, 30fps, you name it). The only footage that is giving me any trouble is 1080i HDV footage that was shot with the Sony-V1U. The footage was shot at 24fps.
When viewed from the browser, the V1U clips repeat every fourth frame. In other words, the frames will show like this: 1, 2, 3, 4, 4.
However, when viewed in the 720p timeline, the same clip will repeat every fourth frame (1, 2, 3, 3).
FWIW, footage shot at 30fps with the same camera looks fine both in the browser and on the timeline.I’m guessing the problem has something to do with 24p and interlacing, but I’m not sure what will solve the problem. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Here is the info for the problematic footage and the timeline:
FCP Studio 2, Mac OS 10.4.11
Footage – 1080i, shot at 24 fpsTimeline – 1280×720, HDTV 720p (16×9), Pixel Aspect Ratio: Square, Codec: Apple Pro Res 422, Editing Timebase: 23.98.
Thanks,
John
