  Photoshop-like guides in FCP?

  Photoshop has guides that objects can snap to. Is there any way to make guides in FCP in the Canvas window to have clips snap to the guides. I work with multiple sequences in one Canvas. I design for live music content and often have to have multiple images or “Movies”
  playing in one large output that will later be split to different screens live. I create a Mask as a transparent .tif and then build my sequences of varying sizes beneath the mask. Much more complicated than a split screen, but the same idea. More like a puzzle piece with multiple sequences running simultaneously.

  Unfortunately not possible in FCP. Have a look at our free DH_Guides generator and also DH_Box

  Charlie,
  First of all, what you’re doing sounds interesting. I wonder if you couldn’t show something of it?

  Have you used the “Make Motion Favorite” commend to ‘save’ the position of the boxes? You basically set them all up once then click on the clip and then do Effects/Make Motion Favorite and you can store that scale/position/rotation/crop/etc. info. Next time you just apply the Motion Favorite to your new clip and it will pop into place.
