Magic bullet causing jumpy footage.
I recently shot some footage on the DVX 100b. I applied various magic bullet filters onto the footage and it worked perfectly. Today I loaded some more footage on the timeline and applied the same filters and for some reason the footage is jumpy. This is extremely frustrating because both clips are on the same timeline and and one is jumpy the other is not. Does anyone have any theories to why this is happening?

I’m now finding that if I place two filters eg. the bleach bypass filter as well as the ls white diffusion 5.0 the flicker goes away, however if I just use the white diffusion alone it still flickers.

are you applying the exact same setting to both?im curious about your name, the only solon i have met is my step-father, and he is greek… your surname is quinn (which is definitely not greek!) so…

What could be the case is the following:
(i got bitten by this quite recently)
Interlaced video starts and ends on half a line.
Thus, if you blur it, every other field has slightly more black in it.
You’ll notice it by flicker left top/right bottom.
Solution: crop 1 or two lines top and bottom before applying the Magic Bullet effect.hth

So I’ve semi-fixed the problem but not really. I’ve found that if I apply two magic bullet filters, then there is no jumping of the picture. However one filter alone still does cause jumping. Any suggestions?

yeah, that is a melting pot for sure!
solon was great, had impeccable integrity and was a lawyer; not as famous as aristotle, socrates or plato but i think even more important in his stand for human rights.cheers mate

I have to ask….
What res is your footage? Is it HD or SD?
I ask this only because we had a situation a couple of weeks ago and I found that the filter was setting my HD footage to lower field dominance. When in reality, HD footage is upper field dominant. SD footage is lower field.
This will cause your footage to become jumpy or jittery. Take a look to see if this is happening.
