    Yo,

Just wondering if it is possible to add an old grainy 16:9 look to some clips, nothing fancy but I remember back in the day I used to be able to do it on movie maker on the pc.

    Thanks,

    Aaron

Using a combination of the Noise Generator, Blur and Overlay command. I posted on how to do this I think last year if you do a search on my name.

And for a real old-film look, use one of these:

OK thanks, just realised I put 16:9 when I meant to say 16mm… I need to get more sleep haha!

    Cheers!

Quicktime’s film filters are pretty decent. You can adjust grain, color fade, even film scratches and hairs. If you’re delicate with it, you can get good results.

    Good luck.

In my book, I describe how to do just that, go to QT to get the looks. However, I make scratches, etc. on black backgrounds and just layer them on top of the footage in the timeline–then just add a composite mode and adjust opacity to taste.
