Avid loads m2t files from CF card with time code. Is there a way for me to load the same m2t files from CF into FCP so that FCP works with same time code as Avid? My goal is to off-line on FCP (older G4 system currently running FCP 4.5, but can upgrade if necessary) and conform edit on Avid.

FCP doesn’t edit m2t files…and the only way it can is if you convert with MPEG STREAMCLIP, in which case whatever timecode is lost…so this isn’t a viable solution.

The Avid software is cheaper now, so you can offline and online on that if needed.

    Hi Guys

Sony does have a plug-in that allows you to use M2T files with the log and transfer tool.

M2T and DVCAM/DV files stored on the HVR-DR60 and the CF card of the Memory Recording Unit can be imported correctly to your Final Cut Pro 6 project by installing the Sony Recording Unit Plug-in software.

This software allows the video and audio stored on these devices to be transferred into Final Cut Pro using the Log and Transfer feature.

    It is available here

However I tried to install it on my MBP running OS X 10.5.2 and FCP 6.0.3 and it fails to find FCP on my system.

As such it wont install, giving me a message along the lines of “cant install, you need to have FCP 6.0.2 already installed on your system”

I have everything in default locations so not sure why it cant find FCP in my case.

Anyway maybe someone else can give it a go.

    best wishes

    Neil
