Do I really have to upgrade to FCP 6 to use the EX1 files on my Intel Mac with FCP 5.1.4. OS 10.4.11 and latest QT. I can use the XDCAM Browser software to view files made with the EX-1, but the XDCAM Transfer software 2.5.1 will not allow me to view/mark/export the video. Anything I can do short of FCP 6? (Please don’t ask why I don’t want to upgrade)

BTW, why don’t you want to upgrade??? We’d all like to hear this one, epspecially since you asked us not to ask why.

If footage from the EX is going to be part of your workflow, then at least create a new boot disk or even clone your old one to an inexpensive firewire drive and install FCS2. At th every least you’ll be able transcode to another format.

This XDCAM EX issue is getting frustrating…

My boss demoed the new Sony EX 2…3, whatever.

He transferred all footage on his mac book pro. He runs FCP 5.1.4 Quicktime 7.6.6. Leopard. It plays fine on his laptop.

I have all the same updates and software as he does on our Intel G5. But it refuses to play even in quicktime. We don’t get it. He has all the codecs needed to play the footage, but i can’t seem to get them, and everything I read says I have to update FCP…but he’s running FCP 5.1.4…so what’s the deal.

    Anyone know?
