Non Controllable Deck and Timecode
Is there a way to capture timecode using the Non Controllable Deck preference in Final Cut. We are capturing live footage and would like to be able to capture the timecode that is coming out from the camera. We are also using a Blackmagic Deck Link HD Pro Card.

No, you can’t. NON CONTROLLABLE DECK turns off timecode recording.
The only device I know of that allows you to do this, that sends you TC information from the camera, is the AJA I/O HD. How it does this, I don’t know, but that was a HUGELY touted feature. Worth looking into.

In order to use the ioHD and capture tc, you have to use the free AJA VTR Exchange and your camera must send rp188 tc via SDI or LTC. You cannot do this from FCP as this feature is ‘busted’.
