DVCPROHD to digibeta
Hello Cows, I have a project at dvcprohd 720p60. Iam trying to output to a Digibeta and keep getting an error that says “You may have attempted to output a clip with compression settings that do not match the current output settings. Try nesting the clip in a sequence with the correct settings.” I have even made a sequence that is 525 and all that and still get the same error. Can anyone help. Thanks in advance.

What is your output/capture card?
If you have an AJA or a Blackmagic card you need to let the card do this for you.

I am on an AJA Kona3. I am trying to let it do the downconvert. But it seems that my FCP dosent like something and I cant figure out what….

As long as you properly setup the Kona 3 output, you can go just about anywhere with it.
What version of the Kona 3 software do you have? Do you have the latest?

ALright. to do a down convert with a Kona you leave your FCP in an HD easy setup. So in your case, choose your AJA Kona3 720p easy setup.
Then go to the Kona Control Panel. On the output triangle (SDI 1 or SDI 2 or analog, whatever) right click on it and choose secondary from the drop down list. Then right click on it again and choose 525i. You should see a little down-convert icon popup and your digibeta should be happy.

Are you trying to insert editing using the insert edit button in the master to tape window? if so that is the bug. Drag the sequence to the insert edit window instead.

How you new that I will NEVER know. That was It!!! I thought i was going crazy. Is that a standard bug or something unique to the version i am in. Has that been fixed in 6?

The message about mismatch may come because without dragging the sequence to the ETT window it defaults to trying to lay the contents of the viewer window to tape. Now that’s real logical!
It seems that everyone learning FCP can’t make Edit to Tape work at first and needs to be pointed to the non-intuitive “right way” to do it.
