This is my first time using multiclip and I do not have my head around this at all. I have a 3 cam shoot I’m trying to edit in multiclip, none of the clips are timecode synced and all are different lengths coming in at different times, I’ve lined them all up on the timeline with a sync point and adjusted the in point in the viewer so they are all the same. But when I go to make a multiclip out of them, they are all out of sync. I’ve scoured the forums for the last hour and have found nothing that really helps. so HEEEELLLLPPP…..anybody…….please.

Don’t look in the forums. Look in the manuals. There is a huge section all about mutitclip. Huge.

There are excellent multiclip resources at kenstone.net.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Good sir, are you seriously suggesting that I….(gulp)….read the manual? This is a travesty, I come to this forum for help not placating. How dare you suggest such an arcane method…..

Seriously, right you are Dave. And believe it or not, twenty minutes in the manual and I indeed found a solution. I created an aux timecode for each clip with the sync point being zero. Voila!! Everything syncs perfectly now. Thanks for suggesting the obvious. Sometimes we can’t see the forest for the trees.

    Amen, brother.

    However.

You didn’t need to create aux code, you can sync from any arbitrary points in your clips. The multiclip interface is deliberately designed to allow easy syncing of freerunning code on all cameras. All you need is a sync event.

edit on, dude! You’re gonna love multiclip and then—suddenly—you’re really gonna hate it.
