  HD + SD

  i recently shot a project where half of the footage was in HD shot with a Sony HVR-Z1U, and the other half was shot in SD with a Canon GL2.

  My question is how do i set up the sequence so that i can edit both the HD with The SD.

  I want the best quality for both, With a Widescreen aspect ratio. i will also export for streaming on the web.

  Capture your HDV as SD and edit the entire thing in SD.

  well….. what do i pick for the easy setup for the sequence, there is so many! and… i want it to be widescreen so what do i do with the SD to crop it or something for widescreen???

  If you want the final output to be widescreen then use the DV NTSC Anamorphic preset. Drop your HDV clips into the sequence, then drop the GL2 footage in. Since the GL2 stuff is not widescreen it will display as pillarboxed. You’ll need to expand the GL2 clip until it fills the widescreen frame. You’ll lose some resolution doing this but there’s nothing you can do about it. If the GL2 footage was shot without widescreen consideration you might have to slide the footage up and down until you get your subject matter properly positioned in the widescreen space.
