    With the availability of 8proc Mac’s, Universal Binary version of AE on way and Gridiron making it all tick how wide a gap in terms of horsepower is there now between this type of kit versus a proprietry system such as Flame?

    Assuming you have the RAM chocked up and some smokin raids surely difference now is coming down to toolsets?

    (Obviously easier to answer once it is all available over the coming months)

    It’s be nice to think so..I think toolset wise though, to compare with a Flame I reckon you’d need something like Fusion + AE running on a beast of a machine, to get the kind of seamless RT 3D environment of a Flame..I guess it also depends what kind of NLE you’re tied into and how important integration with that is?

    hardware wise, yes.
    Software wise no.

    I really wish Adobe would develop pro users needs to match what a flame can do:
    better color corrector
    better tracker
    node based compositng, not just stack
    3D text

    I know 3rd party devlopers handle some of these, but it is a little klunky
