  FCP 6.0.2 Crashing Problem

  I’ve been having a problem with one of my machines. FCP has been crashing randomly for the past few months and has gotten so bad to the point that last Friday I couldn’t even open a project. I had tried creating new projects and bringing the sequences in there in case it was a corrupted project, that didn’t work. I trash the preferences all the time using FCP Rescue 6. Finally, I deleted all old render files, waveforms, anything FCP had created except for autosaves. This seems to have gotten rid of a lot of the problems I was having but it still crashed on my once today.

  Does anyone have any more idea’s as to what I could do short of reinstalling the OS and starting over?

  What is your capture/monitor card? I know we had this issue with our Kona 3 card for awhile until we went back to an older version of the software utility.

  It’s a Kona 3. I just updated all the drivers for it.

  We had the same issue with the Kona 3 and Tiger. Ultimately we downgraded our driver software to version 4 on the AJA site like another system we had, and no longer do we crash. Not sure if this will solve your issue, but it is sure worth a try.

  Use the Unistall utility for version 5 or 5.1 Aja Driver, and then download version 4 and try that.
