  • Cropping while capturing?

I’m looking for a way to crop footage while I’m capturing it.
Every time I capture something from my camera, there’s a thin black line to the far left of my footage. I’ve always had to manually crop this before exporting my movie but I would like to skip this step by removing it instantly during capture instead.
It doesn’t matter if the aspect ratio gets a bit stretched because of this, the crop is very minor anyway.
But is there a way to do this? And if not in FCP, perhaps with a plugin or different editing software?

Use Compressor’s cropping features instead of looking elsewhere… it has to be as easy as finding something that would do this for you otherwise.

Only reason to crop it out is because you’re going online with it or compressing it for computer playback right? Just add the crop there, and you’re done.

There is no way to crop whole capturing.

That thin line is somewhat common on some cameras, if the video is going back out to DVD then it will never get noticed at all. If it is going to web or any other format that will be viewed on the computer it is much easier to crop after you edit then before.
