• Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy

  Final Cut Pro v.5.4.1 Won’t Start

  Trying to boot an academic version of FCP 5.4.1 on Mac G5 OS 10.4.11. The program opens and it scrolls through all of it’s setup, only to freeze. When I go to “force quit” it says the program is not responding. I have been scouring the web for solutions for the past few days and have found nothing that has worked. Among the things I’ve tried:

  -Shutting Down the Mac & Unplugging
  -Re-Installing FCP
  -Deleted FCP User Preferences
  -Downgraded to Quicktime 7.3 (from 7.4, which was recently installed. However, I installed it after the problem occurred so I don’t think they’re related).
  -Unplugging all Peripherals

  Has anyone experienced this before? Bear in mind it was working less than a week ago. Any help would be more than appreciated.

  YOu might have to go to an even harder extreme. Back up your files, erase your main system drive, reinstall the OS then install FCP. That is your last resort, but judging by what you said, you are in last resort territory.
