FCP and XDCAM HD workflow problem
I am having a problem with my Final Cut 6.0 and XDCAM HD work flow.
using my XDCAM transfer tool I take my footage off the disc and bring it onto my hard drive. Looking at the .mov files in the Finder info they say they are 1920×1080. However when i go to bring them into my Project setup to be a 1920x1080p30 project (which 1080p30 being what the project was shot at) they are still in the 1440×1080. I try to bring them on to the timeline but am prompted that the footage is not the same and I should change it to 1440×1080, which i do.
I can continue editing and what i have found if I export it as a quicktime movie at my desired frame size(1920×1080) before running it through compressor to get it to my final format I want. However this causes the annoyance of having to sit through a whole other export which ends up wasting time and space on my hard drive.
my question is why is it coming into Final cut at 1440? I know the camera shoots at 1440 for its own reasons but i was under the impression that once i captured it to my computer it would then be a 1920×1080 which is what my finder info is telling me.
any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
