  Converting 720p to 1080 using ProRes

  Hi

  I have captured 720p, 24fps footage from JVC 111 camera via fire wire, using the HDV codec and not AIC codec. I have got the Timecode of the tapes.

  Then I have opened a ProRes 720p/ 24fps sequence and imported the HDV sequence into it.

  Now I plan to edit in ProRes and use Color to cc.

  But I have to give the final output in uncompressed QT 1080i.

  Please suggest…should i just export my final 720p timeline as 1080i????

  Is this the correct way to go about it ??

  Delivered how? Quicktime file? HDCAM tape? D5? HDCAM SR? I convert my DVCPRO HD 720p 23.98 footage to 1080p 23.98 via the Kona 3. It cross converts on the fly as it outputs.

  No, you want to do this via hardware conversion. The AJA Kona 3 does this in realtime. We do this all the time for 1080i broadcast HD masters.

  I dont have any of these video cards!!

  I have o deliver the QT files on hard disk. So cant i just export quick time conversion as 1080i files ?

  Or should i batch export the HDV as ProREs files ?

  You can up rez your footage with Compressor, it is slow though. But it works.

  No, I have to give the QT files in a hard disk. Should I try the batch export option ? Or just open a ProRes timeline and import the clips ?

  Put your footage into Compressor, and go to “advanced format conversion,” there are a number of presets there.
