Can’t get “VTR OK” to come up for low-res HD video capture
Hi. I have a MacBook Pro running OS 10.5.1 using Final Cut Pro 6.0.1.
I’m also using a Sony HDV deck and an AJA IoHD converter with HDMI cables into the MacBook. The source tape is 1080i 29.97. I’m unable to get the “VTR OK” indicator to come up in the Log & Capture window. Help!!!

do you mean Firewire 800 into the mac?
You can’t capture via hdmi on the mac book that I’m aware of.
A much less complicated way to do this that works is just DV out from the deck directly into the mac DV in.
if you need it as DV instead of HDV, the sony decks can be setup to do that.

Sorry about that, my mess up. They’re two eSATA cables coming out of the eSATA hard drive into a card that goes in the Mac.
There’s a firewire 800 going out to the external hard drive.Well, we’ve now decided to just dump the HD video directly on to the external hard drive…the mac hard drive will be too small to take the full load of 4 hours of HD video.
In the Capture Settings tab of Final Cut I have Capture/Input set at: AJA IoHDi 29.97 Apple Pro Res 422 (per the advice of a AJA tech dude)
The Device Control is set to: Non-Controllable Device (also per his request).
This configuration has worked before in that we’ve been able to capture footage.
So, with the new set-up, any suggestions on why we currently can’t get a “VTR OK” signal in the Log & Capture?

Think about this a bit. You have device control set to non-controllable device. Why would it say VTR OK, when you told it there is no VTR attached?
