Frame rate old footage / USB2 ext drive?
Howdy
Just had historic footage transferred from 16mm, 8mm and Super 8. After discussion about frame rates with facility, agreed for footage to be transferred onto ext hard drive as uncompressed SD, frame for frame. That is, not at 24 or 18 fps. Now I’m looking at editing it with HDV footage shot at 25fps.
The final program may be screened on HD monitor therefore I reckon I should keep HDV footage as HDV or ProRes and upres historic footage.
1) So, when to set frame rate? If I edit clip shot at 15fps into 25fps sequence, will it just speed it up? Should I make speeds changes before? (Not worried about visible speed change with 24fps footage.)
2) Another question: the drive they supplied is USB2 only. Is that acceptable for editing in FCP?
Thanks
