    Anyone notice this?
Listen really carefully to the background clicks while having FCP open. You can use an empty timeline if you so desire. There are faint tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick sounds. Now open a project timeline and scrub the playhead(no audio in my example) the ticking sound will increase and decrease.

To stop the clicking sounds just open another program and have that as the top window or drag a finder window over the canvas viewing area. The finder window MUST cover the entire viewable portion of the canvas window. Now drag the finder window so that you can see a little bit of the video underneath = tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick.

“So what?” You may ask. That’s what I say.

How are you minitoring your FCP audio?

Comes out of the back of the mac. 1/8″ to stereo then to a Crown D-75 amp then to a pair of JBL 4206 near field monitors. I suppose I could have the audio come out to my MOTU then the Crown amp.

How about a Kona or Black Magic something or other.

Oh, I also hear a zipping type of sound when scrolling web pages too.

I think it has something to do with EMF and croostalk within the Mac architecture. Strange for sure.

Why not try that and see if the ticking goes away?
