  • Color smoothing 4:1:1 not rendering…

Posted by Johnny Hardwick on January 22, 2008 at 6:51 pm

Hi, I’m trying to get rid of the blocky reds in my DVX100B SD footage, and the “color smoothing 4:1:1” video effect works great. But when I render the clip, it just reverts back to the original blocky reds. Its like I’m rendering and nothing happens. Everything else works fine. Any help would be appreciated, I’m on a new MacBook Pro, editing on external drive. Thanks.

You need to use a better codec than DV in your sequence, like ProRes or uncompressed. If it’s still set to DV you’ll loose any improvements.
BTW, the filters from Graeme Nattress are better than the one in FCP.
