I need some help with down converting dvcpro hd 720p/ 30fps to Standard Def. I have tried simply using my Kona LHe card to do the conversion, but I get some nasty lines in the video. Any hard edge has a line that jumps and flickers which really makes the footage look bad. I have tried using compressor to convert to uncompressed 10bit, DVCPRO50 and DV and they all do the same thing. I have tried playing with the field dominance and deinterlace filtes and nothing helps. The footage looks great in HD on the computer monitor, but not the output in SD. The best results have been mpeg2 to a DVD and I don’t get the lines, but I would prefer a better quality format. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks.

Output to what in SD? Beta? digibeta? DVD?

With the Kona LHe, you use the Kona Control Panel to set the card to downconvert. I have done this many times and output to digibeta…no problems. What exactly are you doing with the Kona when you output?

It is for live playback in a church service. The kona output SDI to a Ross Synergy switcher.

And typo on the card, it’s LSe. I don’t know if that makes a difference? I don’t see any down converting option.

Yeah, BIG difference. That is an SD card. It won’t play out HD. For HD you need an Hd card, like the Kona LHe.

I never had to…but I would think that simply using the ADVANCED settings, 8-bit uncompressed would do it.
