i am working on a project with 720p30 drop frame footage captured into FC2 as follows on 11/11/07 (right before the 6.0.2 release):
Easy setup – Panasonic DVCPRO HD
    Rate – 29.97
    Use – DVCPRO HD 720p30
Scratch disk is an internal RAID at level 0 controlled by Apple RAID card.

tapes recorded on Panasonic Varicam AJ-HDC227HE, using DVCPRO HD format. Camera set to 29.97 and default recording progressive image at 720×1280. 16×9 is aspect ratio. recorded drop frame.

initially i had a sync issue when i played back this footage in a sequence or viewer set at 29.97 in FC2. changing the easy setup for my project to 720p60 and setting my sequences to an editing timebase of 59.97 cleared up the sync issues, though this always made me feel nervous… that there might be repercussions down the line by editing this way. (am i being paranoid?)

i just ran a test today to see if the 6.0.2 release cleared up my problems and would apply retroactively to material captured prior to the release. i created a new project using the same easy set i captured the material with (720p30) and then imported my captured media. i also created a new sequence and verified that the editing timebase is 29.97. the clips play fine and sync is maintained in both viewer and sequence. so it appears that the previous lack of support to 720p30 dropframe material has been resolved and now i am free to use this media in a 720p30 project. true/false?

also… during capture i noticed that my set in and out points slid a bit (due to drop frame not being supported). i verified that the media that was captured was truly all that i needed, so i am comfortable with the initial slide of ins/outs if there will be no repercussions to this initial slide. will i have problems recapturing? are these clips reliable? walter, can you put my mind at ease here? am i screwed in the long term or am i just being nervous?

thanks so much for your consistent and amazing support.
