  importing images to FCP: pixel aspect ratio problem

  Hello!
  I hope someone can help me out.

  I’m an animator and often work with Final Cut Pro. As a matter of course, before I import still images, i change their pixel aspect ratio in Photoshop (from square to Pal or Ntsc). this usually works fine.

  However on our current project, files that read as PAL (1.066) pixel aspect ratio in Photoshop; are read as ‘square’ when imported into Final Cut Pro.

  I’m not sure why this would be the case and I’ve tried out different file formats (jpeg,bmp and tiff).

  The images were captured using a free programme called Frame Thief and were origionally PICT format- I’ve not worked with this programme before but could it really determine the way Final Cut Pro reads my files after being changed in photoshop?

  I’d appreciate any advice

  What pixel dimensions are these images? If they’re not 720×576 then FCP won’t change the pixel aspect ratio to PAL.
