Last minute in tax year purchase
Thanks to everyone here who added information and advice as I was preparing to purchase a RAID5 array for my new hi-def system. Bob Zelin and Walter Biscardi were particularly influential.
I went to Maxx Digital where Ron Amborn, the president, returned emails and even phone calls through the weekend. I ended up buying one of their RAID 5 arrays/controller cards today — partly because of price and partly because of the people there. I’ll be reporting back on performance after I’ve run the array through its paces.
I guess I shouldn’t make this into an advertisement but I think I got a very good deal and now my accountant won’t yell at me. I’m a last-minute shopper and he’ll be glad that I spent those dollars today, just before the last minutes of 2007 ticked away!

Well, I’ll second that thanks to Walter, Bob, Gary, Shane, Jerry, David, and all the regular posters here and the other Cow forums. I’ve been on a year end tax spending spree too, and managed to make about two dozen purchases with just one post for advice, thanks to the great archive of everyone’s daily posts. Your daily efforts are much appreciated, have a great new year!
