    Hi, I’m doing a 1080 23.98 project- shot on HDX-900. I’m loading into Final Cut 6.02, thru
    a Kona Card- and Apple Pro res 422 HQ codec. Some of my footage was shot at 720 59.94p
    for slo mo purposes down the road. Usually I cut in firewire-based DVC PRO HD- and the
    Panasonic Frame Converter works great- at creating very accurate slow motion. Now that I’m working in PRO RES 422- does anyone know if the frame converter works? Or will I have to try something else like Cinema tools? Or capture those scenes in DVC PRO HD?

    It will only work w/ DVCProHD.

    If the intended framerate is 23.98 then try and use Cinema Tools. CT may not work with progressive-scan footage though. I haven’t tested this w/ the latest version. If it doesn’t let you do it then try putting the footage on a ProRes 23.98 sequence and render a little bit. See if it gets it right (you never know).

    Otherwise it’s gotta come in at DVCProHD. I usually avoid the frame converter tool. It’s old and who knows if it even works w/ FCP 6. With FW you can just bring it in at 23.98 during capture using the 23.98 capture setting.

    the HDX 900 does not generate the necessary flags to use the frame rate converter for this task. ( and as Sean says it needs to be DVCPROHD)

    Use CT and conform to the slower frame rate.
