Trouble Opening Old Project
I have a couple projects stored on a 700 GB external hard drive that currently has 364 GB available. One project opens fine while the other one causes FCP to quit when it’s loading. It’s the same thing each time–the project loads to 13% and then FCP quits. Any ideas?

Yes. It’s probably a bad piece of media or a render file that’s being loaded and then causing a crash. The easiest thing to try first is go to your media drive and find the folder where all your render files are. Rename the folder so that FCP can’t find the render files. Then start up your project. If it doesn’t crash this time and loads up then it’s a corrupt render file. FCP will tell you that all the render files are missing, but then it’s just a case of FCP re-rendering everything again. Don’t forget about the audio renders as well. They’ll be in a separate folder.
