I need to make an HD 1080i MPEG-2 file that has audio embedded into it. Does amyone know how to do this? I can make an MPEG-2 mixdown that has seperate tracks for audio and video, I know how to do that, but I need to embed the audio into the same file as the video. and it does not seem to be that easy. I tried exporting a Full-res quicktime to After FX and I chose the correct option in the Multiplexing mode but upon trying to render the composition, I kept getting an “error, the audio codec is not supported” but I only have the option of using PCM.

Any thoghts? I there a program out there that will convert a QT file into a MPEG-2 file?

You can do it with Compressor. When you choose your Compressor MPG2 preset, look in the”Extras” tab and select the “Multipleed MPG-1/Layer 2 Audio. Then choose Transport stream if you want to make a DVD with it.
