sequence settings for 720pn24 footage
I’m using 720pn24 footage from an HVX 200. I used the DVC Pro HD 720p24 easy setup (FCP v5.1.4) as was recommended by Apple. My sequence’s frame size, compressor, and pixel aspect match my clips and no rendering is required in my sequence, but the footage looks horizonally stretched. In trying to find the right settings, when I changed the pixel aspect to square, and the frame size to HDTV 720p, my picture looks perfect but my sequence needs rendering. Any ideas?

where does your video looked stretched? external monitor? I know the clip and sequence for DVCProHD is 960×720 and for video out with my Kona 3 card you use 1280×720 setting but only for video out not the sequence or clips.

You should not use square pixels. DVCPro HD codecs all use anamorphic pixels. In your sequence & clip settings, there are pulldown boxes for pixel aspect ratio. Those should both be set to DVCPro HD 720. I can’t recall the exact wording, but I think you’ll find the right option!
