HD settings for integrating with 1080 Taranex’ed footage
I’m working on a feature doc, editing with FCP 5.1.4. So far it has
been shot in standard 24P and will be Taranexed (sp?) to 1080i.We were planning on shooting at 720 24P for some more stylized moments of the film,
and then injesting the footage at lower res for the edit and then up-resing the media managed footage we end up using in the film and delivering the higher quality clips to the post house that is doing the Taranex.
BUT . . .
We’re not sure if we gain anything by shooting these bits in 720. And
adding it to the Taranexed 1080 timeline. Should we shoot in 1080?…progressive to fit with our current 23.98 timeline or interlaced to fit with the taranexed footage?Another question- When we recapture the HD clips, what codec should we use?
HDV? DVCPRO HD? 10 bit uncompressed?…Thank you!
