  • Sending out a cut list with handles

I’m on FCS 2 and I’ve got a feature here that I’m trying to send to the neg cutter. The neg cutter is requesting that I give him 32 frames handles on the cut list. How do I do that? I enter 32 frames into the handle length in the export cut list dialog box, but every time I export the cut list, I only get the exact length of the shot without any handles. This occurs in both the cut AND the pull lists. How do I get handles, the neg cutter won’t start until he gets handles.

One way to get 32 frame handles on each cut would be to place a 32 frame transition at each cut, just for the sake of the lists.

Otherwise, I thought Cinema Tools only allowed up to 5-1/2 frames for cut handles.

Actually, to get 32 frames on each side you would need a 64 frame transition.

Thanks, I’ll keep looking for an easier solution, but if it turns out I have to, I’ll go with your suggestion.

    Hi Dan !

I see it’s been a year or so since you’ve asked the Handle size question on this forum. I’m having the exact same problem now. I’m finishing the editing of a feature documentary on FCP, and I need to go threw a DI process in order to print the final film copy. The neg cutter is asking for a 30 frame handle on each cut, and Cinema Tools only offers a maximum of 5 1/2 frame handle.

How did you solve your problem ?

    I thank you deeply !

    Alex
