  • Does reimporting reference files cause quality deterioration?

I’m exporting my film as quicktime references scene by scene, and then dragging the exported files onto a new sequence and exporting that and compressing it to DVD.

Will this process hurt the quality of my final project? I’m thinking it won’t because they’re reference files, but I wanted to check just in case. Anyone know?

I save a lot of time doing it in this way, because I only have to export for scenes that have been changed.

It won’t, but be really careful with this technique. The reference files are based on the render files available for a sequence. If you change a sequence the render files that aren’t needed get dumped. Then your reference movie doesn’t work. It’s a non-functional file and may well corrupt your project and make it unopenable until the file is deleted from your drive.

    All the best,
