    i’m trying to capture tapes that were shot in non HD (sony cam) but when i’m in FCP i chaned the setting to capture regular SD, it wont. the tape pauses after 5 seconds. Am i doing something wrong here???

    check your capture settings,,

    your sure you shot SD (DV)?

    try DEVICE CONTROL: FireWire NTSC (***not basic)
    CAPTURE/INPUT: DV NTSC 48 KHz

    i even changed the settings in the canon xh-a1 to non HD…..i went through FCP changed the settings??? i’m lost, but ill keep trying. i think it might be the tapes. i put back in a tape that i shot in HD 24p and reset the FCP capture setting for HD and it’s fine

    did you do this before shooting or after, I do not believe that the cannon will down-convert in camera

    no, the guy handed me the already shot dv tape. i’m lost at this point, why wont it play right in my camera??? or even capture into FCP??

    You are going to have to find out how it was shot to be able to capture it correctly.
