    Hi there…

I just recently installed 4 GB of extra RAM besides the 2,5 GB I already had…
But now i checked FCP in the System Settings under Memory and Cache and i see
it still only has 2,5 Ram under Memory usage Application…

Does anybody know why the new 4 GB arent used by FCP

In the system profiler it does read 6,5 GB Ram

    thanx

I believe FCP still only uses 2GB RAM. I haven’t gone into the FCP Help Menu to check, but I don’t think that changed with FCP 6. Might change with Leopard.

The placement and order of the memory chips is also important; I can’t remember where the detail is though …

What has been always recommended is to install the RAM in pairs Extract the original chips and install the news to see if they work.
it seems tha FC can not yet use more than 2Gbs of memory although some application (AE CS3) it suposed can do it.
    cheers,
