Is there a way to monitor clip audio in the Viewer window so we only hear the left or right channel? If not, Apple should add this feature. When I get clips in from multiple news crews and they don’t always have the audio sources set the same, or quality differs on each channel, it would be nice to monitor each channel separately to determine if it is the boom mic, or lav/handheld and pick which channel has the best quality while marking the in and out points. Then I just unpatch the track on the the timeline with the bad/not needed channel to insert or overwrite one channel I choose.

There is room in the Viewer to add one more button icon to toggle thru Both, L and R with visual indication to warn when it is not Both.

I could also use the Audio mixer window and mute/unmute the channels. But that takes up screen area, especially on a MacBook Pro. I vote for one, or three buttons (Both, L, R) added to the viewer.

If you create dual mono from a stereo source, you can pan left on 1 right on 2, then lower the level of the track you don’t want to hear.

This is why it’s good to run your audio through an external mixer and then out to your speakers or amp. I simply punch a mute button on the mixer panel if I need to do this.
