  Has anyone managed to do this?

  Gidday,
  I’m cutting some XDCAM HD 1080i50 (35 Mb/s VBR) material in FCP 5.1.4 on a MacBook Pro.
  I have a PDW-F70 XDCAM HD deck hooked up via Firewire or iLink as Sony calls it.
  Ingesting the footage using FAM mode is not a problem, what I’m struggling with is playing back output from FCP thru the deck to my attached monitor. I have tried every logical and illogical settings combination I can think of and I’m starting to think that the Sony PDW-F70 can only video otu via firewire and not video in. The User Manual is not very helpful but it seems to indicate that it should be possible to do this.
  I switched the deck back to AV/C mode for monitoring and I tried playing regular DV back to it too but no love.
  Is there someone out there who has played output video from FCP into this deck via firewire?

  This is not likely possible do to XDCams mpeg codec.
