Posted by Andrew Rice on August 30, 2007 at 3:09 am

Hi, I have the latest version pf FCP and am on an IntelMac, but for some reason I cannot see the files on my camera, or the portable hard drive, in the log and transfer window. The camera is a Panasonic AG-HC1U and there is a pretty deep directory structure once the camera is connected. I can see this structure in the FCP log and transfer window, but the clips do not appear. Help!

    Thanks

It seems that this fix only worked temporarily…what the #$%%^&*. Why can’t the update just work? Any help?

I am not sure this would be considered a fix as much as a workaround. I can ingest with iMovie 08. So atleast I can get the footage in, although iMovie automatically selects the Apple Intermediate codec, which is fine by me. I checked once back in FCP to see if this process “jump started” FCP’s log and transfer window, and it did. I have only done this once, so will report back if there are any issues.

Note to Apple: Please fix this issue.

Sounds like you’re not using the right preset. If you want to use iMovie 08 and get AIC at half resolution, that’s OK. Just make sure you have sequence settings that conform to it.

BTW, what’s a Panasonic AG-HC1U? I can find no reference to it on the Internet except for your post.

    All the best,

    Tom
