  QT Sorenson V3 to FCP6

  Hi All,
  Anyone know a method of maintaining best quality in importing a 864×486 quicktime file, progressive field dominance, 29.97 into a 3:2 sequence in FCP. My final export would be to compressor for a SD DVD.

  If you are going to a DVD why not make your timeline a 16:9 anamorphic and make a 16:9 m2v.

  The quality lose comes when you try to fill a 4:3 screen instead of going to a letterbox.

  I would use a 10 bit Uncompressed (720×486) anamorphic timeline. Make sure you don’t have the timeline recomform to the clip when you drop it in.

  After many compression tests, I realized that I could go directly from QTPro Player, trim the pre/post roll since I didn’t need to do any post on the delivered file and import straight into Compressor. Workflow was fast and I saved myself hours of unneccessary double compression time to get my .m2v into DSP4.

  I was thinking that might be the case. So you went straight to a 16:9 DVD or letterboxed it in a 4:3 DVD? Also, did compressor recognize the source as progressive?
